2Y1M (JP) - Daily Walk with Yee

I was looking at my mobile and realized that I have not downloaded these photos, taken on 14 June 2009, Sunday.

Yee hardly sat piggy back. Daddy tried it before but she did not want it. Today, Yee sat for a little while.

At bedtime, I hugged her fave toy, 'dancing chick'.

First time Yee wore the complete package - raincoat, rain shoe and carried her own umbrella on 16 June (Tue). I was difficult to take picture with Yee moving around.

Kinder Nursery
We went 東沖(ひがしおき) today. We raced together. Yee-chan ran very happily. After that, Yee happily piled up a lot of flowers.
Potty Training: 15:20 (sat only)
On The Way Home
Everything was fine till we stopped to look at the potted plants outside a neighbour's house, just opposite our apartment building. Yee first looked at the purple flowers, then she looked at the next potted plant, filled with huge leaf. I took out the mobile to take picture. Soon, Yee took control of the mobile. We stood there for quite a while. I tried not to rush Yee. Then something happened. Yee said something which I could not understand.
And she was frustrated. WhenI squatted beside her to ask her what she wanted. She demanded, "Stand!" and pushing me to stand. When I stood, Yee pushed me toward the potted green plants. I really had no clue what she wanted. Yee just cried non-stop. The last straw was she lied on the floor and cried ... which I detested. I picked her up and 'stormed' home! Once home, I put her down at the doorway and left her to cry. Yee took me shoes to me and asked me to bring her out. I decided to ignore Yee, knowing that 'entertaining' her would only encourage her to cry more. I did the dishes and turned on 'Sesame Street: Count 123'. Yee cried for a good 15 mintues before she got distracted by Sesame Street. Then she alternate between crying and watching for another 15 minutes. Finally, I heard the sweetest voice, "Ma, ma." I knew my little girl had calmed down and went to her immediately. She signaled for me to open the door of the shoe cabinet. Then she took off her shoes, put them into the cabinet, closed the door, took off her socks, put them into laundry basket and went to watch Sesame Street. I asked Yee for a hug. And she gave me a hug one. Yee is my sweetie pie again.

2Y2M (JP) - Daily Walk with Yee

Morning Madness
- Yee was very uncooperative this morning. She did not want to leave the bedroom to wear her shoes for school. Yet when Daddy pretended to leave, she cried. One time, she wanted to bring two umbrellas with her, then she wanted to bring her Elmo handbag out. She was fickle-minded and crying a lot. Finally, Daddy had no choice but to carry her out and take her to school.
- Yee cried all the way to school. She kept calling, "Mummy!". Poor Daddy had to juggle with a struggling crying toddler.
Kinder Nursery

We went to 南沖(みなみおき)park today. Yee-chan played with the toys at the sandbox with her friends. Everyone had great fun putting sand into the buckets and poured out again.
Feedback From Teacher
I asked 人見先生 if Yee was alright in school today. She said that she was surprised that Yee cried so badly this morning. But Yee was ok in school.
Potty Training: 15:00 (sat only)
Way Home From School
- I saw a friend and stopped by the park. Yee sat on the swing and I pushed her lightly and let it swing. I was surprised when Yee got down from the swing herself while the swing was still in motion. It was a pleasant surprise.
- At elevator landing, it had become Yee's ritual to climb up and down the stair. She did not go beyond second level. She did it for twice and then wanted Mummy to carry her and climbed up the stair. Mummy explained to her that Mummy it was too tough for Mummy to carry her and "baby" up the stairs. Yee cried for a while and finally yielded.
- Inside the elevator, Yee would not allow Mummy to press the button. She would not press it too. Mummy had to press it as there was no ventilation inside the elevator.
- Inside the house, Yee cried again. She wanted to go out. Mummy turned on the 'Sesame Street, Do The Alphabet' to distract her. Yee alternate between stealing glances at the TV screen and crying. Finally, she yielded and took off her shoes and socks. She even put her socks into the laundry basket before walking to the designated place where she could watch the TV.
Dinner Time
Here was Yee trying to scrap the bowl clean before putting it on the basin top. She was so meticulous that even a strand of vegetable must be scraped off (look at the first picture with one strand of veggie). Then Yee passed her fork to Mummy. And she used her hand to scrap the last strand of veggie from her bowl. Once done, she happily put the bowl on the basin top.

2Y1M (JP) - Daily Walk with Yee

Kinder Nursery
Today, we draw on fish-shaped papers. Yee-chan chose orange fish-shaped paper and used pink marker to draw on it. After that, we coloured on the colouring paper. Yee-chan was good at colouring with the green colour.
Potty Training: 11:00 (sat only)
Feedback From Teacher
人見先生 said that Yee sat on the potty twice. Praise God!
Winnie-the-Pooh - Springtime with Roo
This was the first time Yee watched Winnie-the-Pooh. Once she saw him, Yee cried excitedly, "Pooh-san!
Pooh-san!". I was washing the dishes when I thought I heard Yee said, "donkey". I turned to look at the TV screen and saw flowers, Pooh and Roo. Shortly after, Eeyore, came into the screen, trotting behind Pooh and Roo. I was surprised that Yee can identify Eeyore as a donkey. It was simply amazing.
Shower Time
Mummy started a new routine for shower time. Mummy used to help Yee to take off her clothes in the shower room. Now that Yee can take off her own clothes, Mummy asked her to remove them outside the shower room and placed them into the laundry basket.

For a while now, after shower, Mummy would wrap Yee with towel. Yee loves it. I used to hold her hand and lead her out. Now she would walk out by herself and walk into the bedroom for change.

Wee Morning Adventure
-- Yee awoke from her sleep and cried very badly at 1am. Mummy had to carry. It was difficult to calm Yee down so Mummy turned on the Nursery Rhymes to distract her. Yee was scratching her head frequently. I think she was feeling hot and uncomfortable. [[The problem with our apartment was that there was no shelter on the 'window' (acutally sliding doors). June was a raining season in Japan. If
we leave the windows opened the rain would poured in :-( And what made the matter worst was there was no air-con in the bedroom, only in the living hall. Though our partment was small, even if we turn on the air-con, it would not cool the bedroom. ]]
-- Mummy was perspiring as she carried Yee in the living room. It was getting humid these days. It was uncomfortable so Mummy turned on the air-con. The living room got cooler. But at 3:15am, Yee still showed no sign of wanting to sleep. So, Daddy took out a futon and placed it in the living room. Immediately, Yee came down from Mummy's arm and lied on the futon. After a long while, about 30 mins, Yee slowly dozed off and slept soundly till next morning.
-- Morning ritual was different and a little tough with Yee waking at the usual time and lack of sleep. She alternative between gay s
pirit and crankiness like flash of lighting. Finally, Yee left the house willingly and happily with Daddy. And Mummy dropped back to sleep.
Mummy's Disappointment
We did not receive any letter from the city hall. That's means Yee could not go into the government nursery next month. Mummy was utterly disappointed. Why God is not answering our prayer? In Japan, Mummy felt deserted by God (many unanswered prayers). Nonetheless God is God. It is His to give and His to take away. With and without God answering Mummy's prayers, life still goes on. So, Mummy told herself to brace up and move on.

2Y1M (JP) - Daily Walk with Yee

Kinder Nursery
Today’s weather was very good. We went for a walk and Yee-chan boarded the cart. Yee-chan said, “しんしゃ", “bird”, etc. On the way back, Yee-chan alighted from the cart and walked back to school.
Potty Training: 15:00 (sat only)
Puzzle
Mummy has been searching high-and-low for a simple puzzle that was suitable for Yee's age. I finally found it at Daiso. This one in the video has two-sided puzzle. I used the more simple graphic of Thomas-the-train. I improvised it further by pasting the border onto the board, leaving only three pieces of puzzle (insstead of seven pieces) for Yee to work on it. And of course this was too simple for Yee.

2Y1M (JP) - Daily Walk with Yee

At the wee morning, 5:50am!!, Yee suddenly cried and kept saying, "Go there!" I carried her out of the bed. She pointed at the door and wanted to get out of the house. Yee was crying very badly that I had to bring her out at 6am in the morning without brushing my teeth. After we entered the elevator, she started to cry again. At ground level, she did not want to get out of the elevator and wanted to get into the elevator. When we reached the fourth level, she wanted to go down again. We repeatedly going up and down in the elevator for a few times. Finally, when she was calmer, I asked her if she wants to get out at ground level, she nodded her head. We walked around the lift landing, I explained to Yee that the neighbours are all sleeping and we need to be quiet. She listened intently and kept quiet. I started to tell her things in the surrounding. After a long while, Yee was calm, I attempted to bring her back into the apartment cautiously.

Mummy (at the gate): "Do you want to find Daddy?"
Yee nodded her head.
Mummy (at the elevator landing): "Do you want to go in?"
Yee nodded her head.
Mummy (inside the elevator at fourth level): "Do you want to go out?"
Yee nodded her head.
Mummy (outside the elevator, pointing at the direction to our unit): "Do you want to go there?"
Yee nodded her head.
Mummy (at the door): "Do you want to go in?"
Yee nodded her head.

Phew .... finally we are home.
Kinder Nursery
We played with the newspaper in the classroom today. Yee-chan tore the newspaper very forcefully. Then she rolled the torn papers into balls and threw them, together with her friends.
Potty Training: 15:00 (sat only)
Dinnertime
After dinner, Yee took her bowl to the trash bin and empty it with the spoon. Then she placed the bowl on to basin top. I praised Yee, "Good job", showed her "two thumbs-up" and gave her a big hug.
Elmo's Potty Time
While watching "Elmo's Potty Time", Yee was pooing.
I asked her, "Yee, are you pooing? Do you want to use the potty?"
Yee pointed at the TV screen and said, "Elmo, potty."
"How about you, Yee? Do you want to use potty?"
Yee shook her head.
"Where is your potty?"
"Potty ない" came Yee's reply.
