Kinder Nursery Report:
We made ひなまつり (Doll Festival) craft. We drew おだいりさま (Emperor) and おひなさま(Empress) s’ eyes, mouth, hair and hand together. She worked hard at her drawing. When we were done, Yee-chan played blocks with her friends. They built a house.
Evening Time
Yee was a perfect girl this evening. She did her routine smoothly (shower, dinner, playtime, drawing, snacks, teeth-brushing, toilet, reading)

Kinder Nursery Report:
We went to the ‘traffic’ park. Yee-chan played in the sand box. She scooped a lot of sand and said to me, “人見先生、お砂いっぱい” (Hitomi teacher, there’s a lot of sand”). During packing time, she persevered at packing.

Kinder Nursery Report:
We went to 南根(みなみね)park. Yee-chan sat on the swing for a long time and did not want to get down. 渡辺先生 told her, “Let’s look for acorns.” Then she got down and held渡辺先生’s hands. When she saw the acorns, she was very happy.

Kinder Nursery Report:
We went to the 東沖 (ひがしおき) park. We have not been there for a while. Yee-chan sat on the swing and said, “先生、押して下さい” (Teacher, please push me.) Her Japanese is good. When it was time to leave, Yee-chan came down from the slide reluctantly.
Yee's Display of Affection
Mummy had a delightful surprise. Yee called her "ママちゃん" (mama-chan). Japanese loves to call kids with their names and ends it with ちゃん. When used on adults, it is an affectionate address.

Kinder Nursery Report:
Yee-chan was not in good spirit and teared this morning. Gradually she stopped tearing and played with friends. After packing, we played “Follow the tail” game (a band was tied around teacher’s waist and kids are to take it). Yee-chan ran after the teacher happily.
Reading Time:
When we finished a page, Yee said, "つき" (next) and turn the page.

2Y9M (JP) - Miniature Me
It's public holidays in Japan and we head to Ginza for buffet (http://r.gnavi.co.jp/g081207/ ). After the buffet, we went into a Toy building and made a miniature set for the family. Each one cost about 500yen (U$5) -- not bad for precious memory.

Yee had fun pushing the baby stroller.

Yee-chan cried when her daddy left today. She cried for some time. She stopped crying and was in high spirit when we went to the park. There was no one sitting on the swing and she pushed it happily.

Kinder Nursery Report:
We went to the park. Yee-chan sat on the swing many times. She chased the pigeons. While running, Yee-chan said, “待て、待て -- (wait, wait…). She was very cute.
Evening
- Yee saw a picture of a cake and sang the Happy Birthday song. After singing, she said, "おめでとう" (congratulations).
- I was searching for an Anpanman cartoon and the internet for Yee, when she said, "What happen? Where's Anpanman?"
- Mummy talks to Yee at bedtime.
Mummy: "What did you do in school today? Did you go to the park?"
Yee: "Yes. 先生 pushed."
Mummy: "Oh, you played on the swing. What did you do after playing with the swing?"
Yee: "ありがとう (thank you) 先生" and bowed
Mummy: "Good job. What else did you do?"
Yee: "Three friends ... ah ah [Yee thought hard and tried to express her thoughts in words] ... together ... slide down."

2Y9M (JP) - Yee Catches a Cold
- Mummy decides to let Yee rest at home for two days.
Thank God that she recovers on the third day and back to nursery today.
- Having a toddler and a baby at home is quite a challenge. Caring for them and keeping Yee occupied take all the time.
Yee's crying...

... don be deceived. Toddler has this great ability to fake tear instantly.

Kinder Nursery Report:
We had 豆まき (Mamemaki) (bean throwing rituals) today. There was a demon in the room. When Yee-chan saw it, she cried loudly. She was very frightened. She continued for some time even when the demon was gone.
節分(Setsubun )
- Setsubun ("seasonal division") is a festival held on February 3 or 4, one day before the start of spring according to the Japanese lunar calendar.
- In modern days, the most commonly performed setsubun ritual is the throwing of roasted beans around one's house and at temples and shrines across the country. When throwing the beans, you are supposed to shout "Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!" ("Devils out, happiness in"). Afterwards you should pick up and eat the number of beans, which corresponds to your age.
