Chicken Pox - Day 8
Brought Yee to the doctor to certify that she can return to nursery.
At the nursery, the teacher saw us and opened the door, Yee cried as she walked towards the teacher's outstretched arms. When I said "bye" to Yee, my little princess turned away and refused to look at me. She is angry with mummy.
Chicken-pox experience with Yee
Though Yee was home bound for the first 5 days, she did not seem to miss the world outside. Day-in, day-on, she just went about her things - toys, reading, watching barney or loitering around the house. She was happy all the times. And I wonder why? Then my sister, Lian, told me that children are happy with their mums. It doesn't matter where they are or what they do, as long as mum is around, they are happy.
Turn her back on Mummy
Yee was playing with the crayons when I told her it was shower time. She shook her head, "wiggled" her butt to turn and back-faced me!

1Y10M - Chicken Pox - Day 2
I was hesitating if I should bring Yee out for a walk/ride. The chicken pox has invaded her forehead quite mercilessly. I thought perhaps I could keep to the lanes where there are few people. Then I read from the internet that sunlight was not good for chicken pox. The heat would make it more itchy and it would cause sunburn to the healing spots and leave scar. So, I dropped the idea of taking Yee out completely.
The chicken pox did not spare Yee's body. Her front & back were full of spots. I thank God for the cool weather in Japan now. I believe the cool environment has made the experience more pleasant for Yee. "Dear God, thank You!"

1Y10M - Chicken Pox - Day 1
This morning while I changing Yee for nursery, I noticed red spots on her neck. My first thought was bug bites. Then I saw more on her body. Hmm ... chicken pox has invaded my girl's body. So, Yee is home-bound for a week. No nursery, no outing, just Mummy and her.
Well, I actually brought Yee to the supermarket as the fridge is quite empty. Well, today is gro cery-shopping day and I did not expect Yee to be down with chicken pox.
Honestly, I don't think Yee and I can bear staying at home for the entire week. I would probably bring Yee for a ride on the bike, to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air.

1Y10M - Say "Cheese"
Saturday, March 21, 2009
This is the first time I managed to tie Yee's hair without her, removing it. Yee liked it so much that she touched the ponytail and said, "pretty".

Reading Time
These days, Yee picked the books that she wanted Mummy to read. After reading a book, she would put it back to the bookshelf and then select another and bring to Mummy.
This morning, after picking a book, she sat on the bed and patted on the empty spot beside her, looked at me and said, "Sit".

1Y10M - Daily Walk with Yee
Today is a public holiday in Japan. It is called Vernal Equinox (春分の日).
1) Yee is angry with Mummy
We went to the pool with Zhi Gan & Du Juan. While Daddy was playing with Yee, I went for a swim. Yee walked around the pools looking for me, calling "mummy?"
After my swim, I saw Yee sitting at the edge of a pool. Daddy was waving his hands on the water surface to creat waves for Yee. Yee sat there looking dismay. I went up to her and greeted her with a great smile. Yee ignored me! This is the first time, she ignored me. She was angry that I "disappeared". When Du Juan Ah Yee called her, Yee smiled sweetly at her. For the next few minutes, Yee would smile at anyone of them, except Mummy. Poor Mummy, getting a cold shoulder from her beloved daughter.
2) Daddy's little girl
For the past few days, Yee has started to show that she prefers daddy more than mummy at certain time like
- Daddy to hold her hand and not Mummy
- Daddy to feed her
- Daddy to play with her
What's Daddy reaction? ...ecstatic and grinning with pride.
And Mummy's reaction? I have always told Daddy that I prefer Yee to stick with him as it is easier on me. Now that it is happening, I'm feeling a little sad ...

1Y10M - Daily Walk with Yee
1) Stretch Yee Stretch
When I asked Yee to do stretching with Daddy,
she turned and scratched my face!
ok ... another similar words - stretch and scratch.
I pointed at Daddy and repeated,
"Yee, do stretching with Daddy."
Yee ran excitedly towards Daddy
and stretch...

---------------------
2) Shirt through Her Head
Finally, Yee put on the shirt through her head by herself.
Before, she likes to wear it like a pants.

---------------------
3) Nail-clipping
I have always clipped Yee's nails while she was sleeping
This evening is the first time I clipped her nails while she is awake.
Of course, there is only one person who can keep Yee still for a long time.
That person is none other than Barney.

1Y10M - Play Time
Tuesday, March 17, 2009
8.15pmWe had fun with clothe pegs.
I made different shapes & designs with them
while Yee unplucked them.
Then she asked me to clip the pegs on different parts of her sleeve.
---------------------
We played ball too.
Standing by the wall, I will say, "1,2,3 Go!"
Yee and I would run forward.
Lately, Yee always held the ball in her hands,
instead of rolling it on the floor for us to kick.
After running a few steps, she would turned back,
pointed at the wall and told me, "Go there."
We would start the game again, and again, and
Yee never get tired of this game.
-----------------------
10pm - Milestone - Spin the Ball
Daddy was spinning the ball.
Then Yee followed and spinned it too.
It's a pity that did not manage to video.
1Y10M - Reading Time

I pointed at the bear and said,
"Yee, look at the bear.
He is brushing his teeth.
Do you brush your teeth?"
She shook her head and
gave me a stern look.
For weeks, Yee refused to brush her teeth. I made a mistake by incorporating teeth-brushing as part of the bedtime rountine. Now, Yee refuses to brush her teeth as she is resisting bedtime.

1Y10M - Daily Walk with Yee
6pm
For three days, Yee did not ask for "food"on our ride home. Hurray! I've been waiting for this day. Wanted Yee to "wean" herself off this habit by herself. Praise God!
Dinnertime - I was looking at Yee as she was finishing up her dinner. She looked at me and said forcefully, "Nice!" I was glad that Yee loved her dinner.
After a short playtime, Yee walked to the fridge and said, "开" (open). After looking at the content inside, she pointed at the celery. I was surprised as we seldom bought celery in Japan. It is very expensive (some places sell 150yen per stalk! I only bought from one shop where I could get three stalks for the same price). Anyway, I gave Yee a stalk. Sitting by her table, as she chewed, she said, "おいし" (delicious).

1Y10M - Daily Walk with Yee
5:45 pm - On our ride home
On our ride home, I tried to sing songs and recite nursery rhymes to Yee. Yee was humming whenever she heard a familiar tune. Then I recited Humpty Dumpty. Yee would say the last word of three of the sentences - "Wall", "Fall" and "Men".
7pm - Playtime
Yee showed me the grape toy (where you can use a toy knife to cut it into two). I asked her, "Where is the knife?" Yee walked to the shelf and started to pull out the picture book where there was a photo of a knife.

1Y10M - Daily Walk with Yee
At bedtime, I was lying on the bed with Yee. I turned to look at her and my dear little darling said, "close your eyes". I was stunned. I laughed and closed my eyes, pretending to sleep.
